Porter kitchen in Hartforth Blue, fitted by Bespoke Joinery NE.

Every project is managed by Matt, a time served joiner with over twenty years of joinery experience. Everything we take on is designed, made and fitted by the same small team, so the team who measured your room is the team who hangs the doors.

That matters more than it sounds. Old houses are rarely square, floors are rarely level, and a flat pack kitchen dropped into a Victorian terrace will show you exactly where the walls run out. We scribe, pack and cut to the room in front of us, and we deal with what we find underneath rather than covering it up.

We bring our own teams of electricians and gas engineers, both registered, so you are not left project managing four trades around a stripped out kitchen.

Fitted furniture, built on site

Made to measure in your home rather than delivered flat and hoped for. Every piece is scribed to the wall, the skirting and the floor it sits against.

Fitted wardrobes in a bedroom

Fitted bedrooms

Wardrobes built into the space you have, including sloped ceilings, chimney breasts and awkward corners. Internal drawers, hanging, shoe racks and dressing tables designed around what you actually own.

Under stair storage with pull out drawers

Under stair storage

The most wasted space in most houses. Pull out shoe and coat drawers, a hidden desk, a boot room or a downstairs cloakroom, all worked into the run of the staircase.

Media walls

Built into the room, not bolted on. Fire and television integrated, cables run out of sight, lighting wired in and storage below, finished flush to the wall and painted in.

Three ways to work with us

Not everybody needs the full service. Tell us where you are up to and we will price the part you actually want.

Design, supply and fit

The full job. We measure, design, order, strip out and install, and we bring the electrician, gas engineer, plasterer and tiler with us. One point of contact and one written quote.

Supply only

Trade prices on Howdens, PWS and InHouse ranges with a proper design and a full parts list, for builders and confident self builders who have their own fitter.

Fitting only

Already bought from Wren, Howdens, B&Q or IKEA and need a joiner you can trust to fit it properly. We take it from the flat pack in your garage to a finished room.

How a job runs

No showroom appointments and no pressure selling. We come to the room, because that is where the job is.

1

Design visit

We come to you, measure up, talk through how you use the room and what you want to change. Free, and there is no obligation at the end of it.

2

Design and quote

You get a drawn design, the ranges and finishes to choose from, and a written quote with the trades and the worktops included. No moving numbers later.

3

Fit

We agree the dates before we start and we stick to them. Strip out, first fix, units, worktops, second fix, tiling and making good, in that order.

4

Snag and hand over

We walk the room with you, sort anything you are not happy with, take the rubbish away and leave it clean. Certificates for the electrics and gas follow.

What people say afterwards

Rated 5.0 on Google and Checkatrade, with every review answered personally.

★★★★★

Absolutely fantastic service from Matty and his team. When he arrived to put my new kitchen in we discovered my floor had rotted unnoticed due to a leak under the washing machine, and without hesitation it was repaired with no complaints or fuss. Trustworthy, honest and goes above and beyond.

Jeanette Lawson, Sunderland
★★★★★

I would recommend this company and give it a 5 star rating from my own personal experience. It was a challenging kitchen to fit but from start to finish Matthew made a professional job. The workmanship is amazing and an honest and very nice lad to have worked with.

Tracy Allison, Newcastle
★★★★★

Matt is an absolute perfectionist. The quality of his work is outstanding and his attention to detail is to be admired. The ability he has to make complex carpentry adjustments to ensure a perfect fit is amazing. He was joined by Cameron who worked equally as hard.

Where we work

Based in County Durham and working right across the North East. If your town is not listed, ring us anyway, we travel further for larger jobs.

Questions we get asked on every quote

If yours is not here, ring us and ask. We would rather tell you straight than have you find out halfway through the job.

How much does a new kitchen cost?

Most of the kitchens we fit in County Durham land somewhere between eight and twenty five thousand pounds all in, depending on the size of the room, the range you choose and how much of the room needs putting right underneath. A fitting only job is far less. We give you one written price covering the units, the worktops, the trades and the making good, and it does not move once you have signed it off.

Can you fit a kitchen I have already bought?

Yes, and we do it often. If you have bought from Wren, Howdens, B and Q, IKEA or anywhere else, we will take it from the flat packs in your garage through to a finished room. We will tell you honestly before we start if anything in the order is missing or will not work in the space, which is more common than most people expect.

Do you handle the electrics, gas and plastering as well?

We do. We bring our own electricians and gas engineers, both registered, plus a plasterer, tiler and decorator when the job needs them. You deal with us and we deal with everybody else, so you are not left chasing four trades around a stripped out kitchen. Certificates for the electrical and gas work follow after the fit.

How long does a kitchen take to fit?

A straightforward replacement is usually one to two weeks on site. A larger job, or one that involves moving walls, re-plastering or a new utility, runs longer. We agree the dates with you before we start and we stick to them, and we tell you at the quote stage roughly how long you will be without a working kitchen.

Do you charge for the design visit or the quote?

No. The visit, the measure up, the drawn design and the written quote are all free and there is no obligation at the end of it. We would rather spend an hour finding out the job is not right for you than have either of us discover it later.

Are German kitchens worth the extra?

For some people, yes. The carcasses come rigid rather than flat packed, the drawer runners and hinges are a step up, and handleless ranges only really work properly at that build quality. If your budget is tighter, a well fitted painted shaker will look and last better than a German kitchen fitted badly. We will show you both and tell you what we would put in our own house.

Which areas do you cover?

We are based in County Durham and work right across the North East, including Durham, Houghton le Spring, Chester le Street, Seaham, Peterlee, Washington, Sunderland, Newcastle and Gateshead. If your town is not on the list, ring us anyway, we travel further for larger jobs.
